Magnun Sess Premium repeats Gold Medal at Olive Japan
For the second consecutive year, in 2020 the jury of the Olive Japan International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition has awarded a Gold Medal to our Magnun Sess Premium extra virgin olive oil. We couldn’t be happier!
Two of two. This is how we could define our participation in one of the most relevant international competitions as far as extra virgin olive oil is concerned. Even with last year’s hangover, this year we have decided to present again our Magnun Sess Premium extra virgin olive oil to the Olive Japan International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition.
This event, which every year brings together the most important players in the world’s olive oil sector in Japan, has been attended by 700 samples from 23 countries. More than 200 were presented from Spain, all of them of impeccable quality. And among them… our limited edition won the Gold Medal!
Very happy and proud, this award represents the effort, perseverance and passion of a great team whose aim is to provide you with the highest quality extra virgin olive oil.
The 9th edition has been very difficult
Perhaps it was the markedly green profile with a predominance of leaf green and the intense fruitiness of this Picual monovarietal that seduced the jury. Perhaps, its fresh notes of green grass and vegetables, highlighting the tomato and artichoke. Or possibly the green and vegetable attributes, with final notes of pepper and green banana of great persistence, that are manifested in the mouth… Who knows!
What we are certain of is that the prestigious jury of this competition has valued the excellent quality hidden behind an attractive intense blue glass bottle that does nothing but preserve intact the organoleptic qualities of this juice from early harvesting olives.
Evoo for the Japanese market
The 10,000 litres of this culinary treat are ready to seduce the palates of Japanese consumers. They consider the emblem of the Mediterranean Diet to be a healthy product and therefore value its quality highly. It is not for nothing that around 70% of olive oil imports correspond to the “virgin” category.
As the manager of Olive Oils from Spain, Teresa Pérez, stated last autumn at the presentation of the Olive Oil World Tour in Asia, “there are very few markets that have turned to our product like the Japanese one. In the last two decades we have seen how the consumer has bet mostly on Spanish olive oils, whose consumption has multiplied almost fourfold. And most importantly, it is a market that continues growing strongly. In the first half of 2019, sales increased by almost 40%”.
In fact, imports from Spain already account for almost 64% of total purchases in a market clearly dominated by European olive oils.
